The media has long been recognized as a significant force shaping perceptions of body image and influencing behaviors related to eating disorders. In contemporary society, particularly with the widespread use of social media, individuals, especially adolescents, are frequently exposed to idealized portrayals of beauty and body standards. This study explores the impact of media exposure on body image concerns and the development of eating disorders in Pakistan. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and primary data collected through surveys and interviews, the article examines the correlation between media consumption and the onset of body dissatisfaction, as well as its association with various eating disorders. The findings indicate a significant influence of media portrayals on body image perceptions, particularly among young women. Furthermore, the article discusses the role of socio-cultural factors in moderating this impact and proposes interventions to mitigate media-related risks associated with body image and eating disorders.
