Refund Policy

JOURNAL POLICIES

Ensuring transparent publication charges, fair refund procedures, responsible financial practices, and timely communication with authors.

Our Commitment to Fair Refund Practices

The Journal of Human Behavior and Societies (JHBS) is committed to maintaining transparent and fair financial practices in scholarly publishing. The journal applies Article Processing Charges (APCs) to accepted manuscripts to support editorial administration, manuscript processing, editing, production, and publication services.

This Refund Policy explains the conditions under which authors may request a full or partial refund of APC payments. Refund eligibility depends on the manuscript's publication stage, processing costs already incurred, and the circumstances surrounding the refund request.

01

Article Processing Charges

JHBS charges Article Processing Charges (APCs) for accepted manuscripts in accordance with its published fee schedule. These charges contribute to editorial administration, manuscript preparation, formatting, publication production, and related publishing services. Payment of an APC does not guarantee manuscript acceptance or influence editorial decisions.

02

Full Refund Before Acceptance

Authors who have paid an APC and formally withdraw their manuscript before final acceptance are eligible for a full refund of the APC payment, subject to verification of the payment and confirmation of the manuscript's editorial status. No publication-related deduction will be applied to the eligible APC amount.

03

Partial Refund After Acceptance

If an author requests withdrawal after manuscript acceptance but before official publication, a partial refund may be considered. The amount refunded will depend on the editorial, production, formatting, and administrative costs already incurred by the journal.

04

Refunds Due to Editorial Errors

A full or partial refund may be granted when a verified editorial or publishing error significantly affects the processing or publication of a manuscript. Such cases will be reviewed individually to determine the appropriate remedy, taking into account the nature and impact of the error.

05

Non-Refundable Charges After Publication

Once an article has been officially published on the journal's website, Article Processing Charges are generally non-refundable. Exceptions may be considered in cases of serious and verified publisher error that materially affects the publication. Any such request will be evaluated by the editorial office.

06

Refund Request Procedure

Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the journal's editorial office. Authors should provide the manuscript title, submission identification number, corresponding author's details, payment confirmation or receipt, date and amount of payment, and a clear explanation of the refund request.

07

Review and Approval of Refunds

All refund requests are reviewed by the authorized editorial or administrative team. Eligibility is determined according to the manuscript's publication stage, the journal's applicable policies, payment records, and documented circumstances. Authors will be informed of the outcome through the official communication channel.

08

Refund Processing Timeline

Approved refunds are normally processed within 30 business days following formal approval. The actual time required for funds to appear in the recipient's account may vary depending on the payment provider, banking procedures, and international transaction requirements.

09

Payment Method and Transaction Fees

Approved refunds are generally issued through the original payment method whenever possible. Applicable bank charges, payment gateway fees, currency conversion costs, or other non-recoverable transaction fees may be deducted where permitted and appropriately disclosed to the author.

10

Transparency and Author Communication

JHBS seeks to maintain clear, professional, and timely communication throughout the refund process. Authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office regarding refund eligibility, supporting documentation, processing timelines, and any questions related to publication payments.

Our Commitment to Financial Transparency

The Journal of Human Behavior and Societies is dedicated to maintaining fair, transparent, and accountable financial procedures for authors. Through clear Article Processing Charge policies, reasonable refund arrangements, and responsible editorial oversight, JHBS seeks to promote trust, professional communication, and ethical scholarly publishing.
