Peer Review Policy
Ensuring academic excellence, research integrity, fairness, and transparency through a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
Our Commitment to Peer Review
The Journal of Human Behavior and Societies (JHBS) follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the originality, quality, integrity, and academic relevance of all manuscripts considered for publication.
The journal is committed to maintaining independent scholarly evaluation, editorial impartiality, confidentiality, and ethical publishing standards across the fields of human behavior, sociology, psychology, social sciences, and related interdisciplinary research.
Double-Blind Peer Review
JHBS employs a double-blind peer review system in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another throughout the review process. This approach is designed to reduce potential bias and promote objective, independent, and fair manuscript evaluation.
Selection of Reviewers
Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Reviewers are selected according to their academic qualifications, research experience, and knowledge of the manuscript's disciplinary area.
Initial Editorial Screening
Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial assessment by the editorial team to determine their suitability for the journal's aims and scope, compliance with submission guidelines, academic quality, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be declined before external peer review.
Manuscript Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers assess manuscripts on the basis of originality, research significance, methodological quality, clarity of presentation, theoretical contribution, relevance to the journal's scope, ethical compliance, accuracy of references, and the validity of conclusions.
Editorial Decisions
Following peer review, the editorial team evaluates reviewers' recommendations and determines the appropriate decision. Possible outcomes include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. The final publication decision rests with the authorized journal editor.
Revisions and Re-Evaluation
Authors receiving revision requests must carefully address reviewers' comments and submit a revised manuscript with an appropriate response to the feedback. Substantially revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or additional experts for further evaluation.
Confidentiality and Ethical Conduct
Manuscripts and peer review reports are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, distribute, or use unpublished research for personal advantage. All participants in the review process are expected to maintain professional integrity and respect scholarly confidentiality.
Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers and editors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or academic conflicts of interest that could compromise impartial evaluation. Where a significant conflict exists, the individual concerned should withdraw from the review or editorial decision.
Plagiarism and Research Integrity
Manuscripts may undergo plagiarism screening and additional research integrity checks. Suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, or other unethical practices are assessed in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.
Peer Review Timeline
JHBS aims to complete the peer review process within approximately 4–6 weeks. However, the actual duration may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, required revisions, and additional evaluations. The journal prioritizes review quality over accelerated editorial decisions.
Our Commitment to Academic Excellence
The Journal of Human Behavior and Societies is dedicated to maintaining a fair, confidential, independent, and transparent editorial process. Through rigorous double-blind peer review, the journal seeks to publish original, credible, ethically responsible, and academically significant research that advances understanding of human behavior and societies.
